Sofia Pernas was born in Fes, Morocco, and traveled around the world before eventually settling in Los Angeles. Pernas had initially hoped to be a journalist, had a life that turned out to be a complete surprise after she was approached initially by a model-scout, then an agent. Her mother comes native to Morocco as is her father, and she is originally from Spain Both are multi-lingual. She is fluent in Arabic, English and Spanish along with German. She originally planned to pursue a journalism career, but was then scouted for modeling career. She was Marisa Sierras in The Young and the Restless and appeared on the CW Telenovela Jane the Virgin with Justin Baldoni and Gina Rodriguez. In the NBC series The Brave, she plays Hannah Rivera, a Defense Intelligence Agency employee.
